How it works

Federal income tax uses the 2026 brackets and standard deduction for your filing status. Social Security takes 6.2% of wages up to the annual wage base and Medicare 1.45% of all wages (plus 0.9% above $200,000 single). Florida adds no state income tax on top.

Married figures assume the salary is the household's only income, filing jointly. Florida has no state income tax and a near-average property tax rate with a Save Our Homes assessment cap for residents, but homeowners insurance is the most expensive in the country because of hurricane exposure — often rivaling the property tax bill itself.
